Detroit Windsor Tunnel NEXPRESS(C) Toll Helps Travelers Save Time and Money
New system to cross the Windsor Detroit border debuts at www.dwtunnel.com.
- Detroit, MI (1888PressRelease) July 08, 2010 - Today, the Detroit Windsor Tunnel (DWT) introduced their NEXPRESS© Toll card at www.dwtunnel.com, a cashless program that will expedite border crossing and save money. Launching on the U.S. plaza today, DWT expects the program to be on both sides of the Windsor Detroit border before the end of the year.
"To speed the process of crossing the border, DWT customers traveling from Detroit to Windsor can now register for a NEXPRESS Toll card," states Carolyn Brown, DWT Executive Vice President. "NEXPRESS Toll card holders can access dedicated lanes and easily manage their account anywhere, any time with an Internet connection."
NEXPRESS Toll is now available for use in any lane on the Detroit Plaza and is less expensive than cash, credit cards or tokens. Customers can apply online at www.dwtunnel.com, or they can request a mail-in application at an attended toll booth. An incentive program has been implemented to coincide with the kick-off of the program, and for a limited time, anyone who signs up online will receive a one-time credit of $25.00 in tolls added to their card.
"With this new system, we hope to reduce traffic-delay times and help travelers get to their destination," states Brown. "And, DWT customers will never have to use an attended lane; they can use any lane on the plaza!"
The NEXPRESS Toll application process is straightforward. Customers simply:
• Go to www.dwtunnel.com;
• Create an account;
• Add a minimum of $100 USD to their Visa or Master Card; and
• Download their bar code and exchange that bar code at any attended toll booth in Detroit for a NEXPRESS toll card.
"Known as 'prox' (proximity) cards, these payment programs are in use around the world, and offer a secure, simplified system for the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel," says Brown. "We look forward to bringing the Windsor plaza online before the end of the year for a seamless Windsor Detroit border crossing system."
