Designer Kyle Bunting and Kelly Hohla Team Up During the San Francisco Showcase
Kyle Bunting, master in hide, collaborates with Jeffers Design designer Kelly Hohla for San Francisco Showcase. Using a cowhide wallpaper, the two wow audiences with their creativity.
- San Francisco, CA (1888PressRelease) April 26, 2013 - Hide Master Kyle Bunting's work makes it into the San Francisco Decorator Showcase yet again, this time teaming up with Kelly Hohla from Jeffers Design.
"I loved collaborating with Kelly for the San Francisco Decorator Showcase for her couple's retreat lounge," comments Kyle Bunting. "Originally Kelly was looking for a more subtle and classic pattern for her room. But while working with her and hearing her vision I felt that something more bold would fit perfectly. I was working on some new designs and suggested it to Kelly and she agreed bolder is better." Kyle outfitted the room with a 12' by 7' hide paper installation in his silver and smoke. Since Kyle's works comes custom to order, the unconventional measurements did not present a problem.
For the showcase Kelly was assigned the task of redesigning the mansion's office. Her vision was to create space a couple could retreat to after a busy day. She decided to use Kyle Bunting's hide paper to transform the space into a luxurious and relaxing environment that was not too masculine or too feminine. "The vision is taking the idea of a classically masculine aesthetic, and with the play of color and texture making it appeal to women as well- for a warm welcoming space they can share," explains Kelly. "Here is where Kyle came in, and where his hide wall was a perfect balance. The use of hide almost instantly references masculinity, but the subtle color palate of soft gray and periwinkle was the perfect balance & softening touch for this space. The pattern really draws you in- its impossible not to walk over and touch it."
Bunting's work has become a favorite amongst designers-especially for showhouses. It is through opportunities such as the San Francisco Decorator Showcase that his ability to work closely with designers to achieve their creative vision is put to test. "It is always amazing to see a Bunting piece come together, comments Kelly. "They have so much depth and personality. So much attention is paid to the detailed precise pattern cuts, subtle color changes, & direction that the hair on the hide runs- they really are a work of art." Kyle's work with designers proves he is not only a master at cowhide but also at custom work.
Located in a Georgian-style mansion at 2800 Pacific Ave. in San Francisco, the showcase is open to the public on April 27 and attracts top designers from the West Coast annually. For the past 35 years the annual San Francisco Decorator Showcase has benefited San Francisco University High School's financial aid program.
