The local attractions and business listing is helpful for residents and tourists alike and with photos to easily locate and recognise them.

The main event for the months of October 2010 to March 2011 is the Derrinallum Town and Country Market and is held under the Elms on the Hamilton Highway on the 3rd Sunday of the month.

It could possibly be extended through the winter months if successful and if there is a demand for it to continue.

There are photos of this Market on the website and it is to date proving very popular.

Also under the elm trees visit the Soldier Settlement style picnic shelter, the walls, doorway and windows constructed in the same manner as the 1920's soldier/farmers cottages.

The town has free parking for Campervans and caravans with toilet and other facilities, plus a children's play ground at the football and tennis ground at the eastern end of town on the Hamilton Highway, (watch a football or cricket match whilst your there).

There are similar facilities at Deep Lake off Chatsworth Road at the western end of town.
Now there is plenty of water in Deep Lake after years of drought there could be some good fishing (it has also been restocked with freshwater fish recently), so fresh BBQ'd fish for dinner if you throw in a line (don't forget your licence).
Boating is allowed on the lake so if you have a boat with you back it down the ramp and have a run out.

Derrinallum is approximately a one-hour drive from major regional centres such as Geelong, Ballarat and Warrnambool, and is a comfortable two-hour drive from Melbourne and Hamilton

Plus for those on motor touring holidays there is a comfortable Hotel Motel in town offering good food and friendly service.

The area around Derrinallum is ideal for those visitors taking motoring tours or Geotouring the area in Campervans or motorhomes, with the renowned Mount Elephant just outside of town, it's located about 1 kilometre west of the township of Derrinallum on the Hamilton Highway..

MOUNT ELEPHANT (http://www.mountelephant.zoomshare.com) is a major feature of the Kanawinka Global Geopark, it is a steep sided volcanic scoria cone, formed about 20,000 years ago and is one of the highest volcanoes in Victoria, rising 240 metres above the surrounding plain

The area for several kilometres around consists of "stony rises" of more solid basalt of about the same age.
This emerged from numerous vents and flowed in many directions as molten rivers of rock until they finally cooled, damming the old creek lines to form the numerous lakes in the district.

There are similar areas of stony rises around the other volcanic cones in the district so there is plenty to see.
