In the past 8 years, Dermot has been consulting to Boards and Executive teams and successfully provided global searches in sectors like Oil & Gas, Exploration & Minerals, Building, Utilities as well as Life Sciences.
Dermot's area of expertise has been in performing highly demanding specialized searches, putting senior managers, technical experts and key leaders into multinational organizations. These include (mining) BHP Billiton, Vale, Rio Tinto Alcan, (pharmaceuticals) Pfizer, Merck Sharpe & Dohme, AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, Eli Lilly as well as (O&G) Shell to name but a few.
Dermot's desire for the industrial sector is deep rooted, having grown up on the mining site in Northern Ireland, where his father was the Managing Director and subsequently working in his dad's engineering business following school. His passion for technology and engineering encouraged him to study and graduate with a degree in materials technology in 1996.
Along with several years post graduate experience being an Industrial Engineer, Dermot was fortunate to achieve experience servicing clients like Apple, Microsoft, Dell as well as Cisco. He also worked in the semiconductor industry where he applied operational excellence cultures via lean 6 sigma methodologies. Through these change management endeavours, Dermot discovered a passion as well as flare for the development of individuals, which eventually influenced him to operate in the recruitment industry.
Having worked in Ireland, UNITED KINGDOM, France, Belgium, USA, Australia and most recently Oman, Dermot will cover the gulf countries as well as emerging markets in central Asia.
Looking to the long term, Dermot will continue to develop the Middle East client base he has been developing during the last three years. His focus will be around the Energy as well as Mining & Metals sectors, both being significant industrial sectors here in the region. Additionally, Dermot is keen to continue his achievements in sourcing as well as placing high calibre GCC nationals directly into key leadership positions in the Middle East. It is really an area which Dermot is very interested in, namely discovering and assisting the career path of the following generation of Arab leaders.
