Denver's First Bacon & Beer Festival: Forkly, Eat Boston & Denver off the Wagon Join Forces to Raise Funds for Hunger Relief
Local Chefs, Breweries, & Whole Foods Market Pitch in to Raise Funds for Hunger-Relief Programs.

Colorado may be known as the fittest state, but locals love greasy bacon and full-bodied craft beer just like anyone else. Today, Eat Boston, Forkly and Denver Off the Wagon, have announced Denver's first Bacon & Beer Festival, which will take place on Dec. 9 from 2:30-5pm at Mile High Station.
Chefs from 25 local restaurants including Colt & Gray, The Kitchen Denver, and Euclid Hall will plate their best bacon dishes, while 15 Colorado breweries, like Great Divide Brewing Co, Denver Brewing Co, and Crooked Stave, will show off their craft beers. Denver-area Whole Foods stores are supporting the event with a donation of American Homestead Bacon for the dishes.
The Denver Bacon & Beer Festival originates from Eat Boston's annual Boston Bacon & Beer Festival, which has become one of the most sought-after tickets for beer and food lovers in the region - this year, the 1,450 tickets available sold out in five minutes flat.
"The response to the Boston Bacon and Beer is always so overwhelming-- I've always wanted to try it somewhere else," says Aaron Cohen of Eat Boston. "I've heard the people of Denver like having a good time, so I'm excited to bring it out here and see how it goes."
With a craft brewery popping up on seemingly every block in the "Napa Valley of beers" and odes to pork oozing from most local menus, Denver's event is expected to be just as popular, drawing over 800 beer and food and drink lovers to Mile High Station.
Co-host Forkly's co-founder Brady Becker says, "One of the reasons we started Forkly in Denver was to get the city's exciting, fast-growing culinary scene on the national map. An event like Denver Bacon and Beer not only celebrates the city's array of talented chefs and brewers, but it's one that gives Forkly's regional community the opportunity to discover what local chefs are cooking, to share it with global users, and to simultaneously help fight hunger."
Over the past three years, Boston's event has raised $65K for non-profit hunger relief organizations, like Community Servings and Lovin' Spoonfuls.
"We're incredibly grateful to the generous restaurants, brewers, and sponsors who volunteer their time and product, so that we can throw an awesome party AND raise a ton of money for these hard-working organizations," says Cohen. "We couldn't do anything without the restaurants and brewers, and their support for the event, community, and organizations is really amazing to see."
The Denver Bacon & Beer Festival will follow the same lead with proceeds donated to Project Angel Heart and Metro CareRing, two organizations working to provide hunger relief in Denver.
