Düsseldorf. According to Juniper Research, one of the leading analyst firms in the mobile and digital tech sector, one-third of airline boarding passes will be delivered via mobile devices by 2019. The company is predicting that by 2019, more than 1.5 billion boarding passes will be issued via mobile to travellers, as opposed to the 746 million mobile passes expected to be delivered in 2018.
Airports in general can be hectic and stressful as numerous passengers, employees and visitors have to get from point A to point B in a certain amount of time. When it comes to mobile data collection, airports are one of the top places that profit from the advantages of the latest technologies, as they can save a lot of time. Furthermore, mobile data collection is very accurate and has perfectly adapted to the latest demands, such as an increasing number of mobile boarding passes.
Secure and accurate: the QK30 scanner by DENSO
At Birmingham Airport, mobile data collection has been used to scan boarding passes, thus, saving time and helping employees manage the large number of passengers accurately. For just over 12 months, the QK30 by DENSO, part of the Toyota group and inventor of the QR Code, has been in use. Matthew Read, Sales Manager UK & Benelux at DENSO, explains: “The airport was searching for a more accurate and speedy scanner in order to scan mobile tickets. That is why we suggested the QK30. The company we are working with, Flight Solutions, tried and tested our scanner and was very satisfied, which is why it was installed at the security gates at Birmingham Airport.”
The QK30 scanner by DENSO, part of the Toyota group and inventor of the QR Code, has been specially developed for scanning 1D and 2D barcodes on smartphone displays and paper printouts. The compact device is ideal for e-ticketing, e-couponing, and e-membership cards.
Matthew Read continues: “Our QK30 is one of the most advanced scanners in the industry. It enables high-speed as well as very easy scanning because of its large scanning area.” In addition, the design of the QK30 is very compact, increasing placement flexibility.
“Our partner, Flight Solutions, has been very satisfied with our scanner. In fact, they are planning on introducing it to other airports as well. That way, even more passengers can profit from our time-saving, accurate devices. Overall, our scanners are all-round performers that are particularly accurate and very easy to handle – a great advantage for Birmingham Airport,” says Matthew Read happily.
