Delcam claims IMTS success proves US recovery is under way
"Anyone who doubts that the recovery in US manufacturing is happening should have been on the Delcam booth at IMTS,” claimed Delcam’s North America President, Glenn McMinn, when the exhibition closed last week.
- (1888PressRelease) September 27, 2010 - He reported that the booth had generated more enquiries, from a higher-quality audience, than any previous show in the series of biannual events.
"After the recent recession, companies are looking to invest again,” he said. "So far this year, our sales in North America are up by almost 30% compared to the same period of last year. The response at IMTS has increased my confidence that we can maintain that growth through the rest of this year.”
Mr. McMinn admitted that he was surprised at the number of people flooding onto the Delcam booth. "We had so many leads that our printer ran out of ink on Wednesday,” he commented.
One highlight of the exhibition was the announcement of Delcam’s 10,000th customer in North America – dental milling service provider Core 3D Centers. To mark this landmark Tim McKimson, Director of Engineering of Core 3D Centers, was presented with a commemorative award by Association for Manufacturing Technology President, Douglas Woods.
According to Mr. McMinn, a key factor in the company’s continuing success is its broad range of software, coupled with a growing recognition in North America of its status as the world’s leading specialist supplier of CAM software. "We can now offer a CAM system to machine virtually any product, in any material on any type of equipment,” claimed Mr. McMinn. "No other supplier has such a broad a range of software to increase productivity, improve quality and shorten delivery times in so many applications.”
Delcam’s full range of CAM systems is now made up of PowerMILL for high-speed and five-axis machining, FeatureCAM for feature-based machining, PartMaker for Swiss-type lathes and turn-mill equipment, and ArtCAM for routing and engraving. Together, the complete set of programs comprises the world’s most comprehensive collection of machining software; giving Delcam an unrivalled ability to provide solutions to all of a company’s programming needs. Earlier this year, Delcam further extended its range with the addition of its first integrated CAM system, Delcam for SolidWorks.
A second major contributor to Delcam’s success at IMTS was the launch of new releases of FeatureCAM and Delcam for SolidWorks, plus the first preview of the 2011 versions of PowerMILL and PartMaker. "Delcam employs the largest development team in the CAM industry,” said Mr. McMinn. "All our developers have been working flat out to have the 2011 releases ready to show at IMTS. The results of their efforts impressed all our visitors, both the potential customers that were looking to upgrade their existing software and our many current users that were excited to see the new enhancements they will receive in the coming months.”
