- Boston, MA-NH (1888PressRelease) April 10, 2014 - Deepak Rajpal, director at GlaxoSmithKline in the computational biology group at Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, will give a featured presentation on "Integrative Analyses for Drug Discovery Programs" at the Bioinformatics & Pharmacogenomics: Managing and Analyzing Big Data Conference to be held in San Diego, CA on June 19-20, 2014 by GTCbio.
Data integration is critical for disease understanding and program progression for drug discovery. Dr. Rajpal will share an example of data integration by starting with clinical transcriptomics data from a disease area and present an integrative analysis strategy for target selection and drug repurposing.
Dr. Rajpal received his degree in Veterinary Medicine from India, and his PhD from the University of Kentucky in 2000. After his post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard School of Public Health, he participated in building BioKnowledge libraries at Proteome and Incyte Genomics in Beverly, Massachusetts. Dr. Rajpal joined GlaxoSmithKline in 2003. He is currently the team leader for RTP Computational Biology group, and also the therapy area contact in computational biology for metabolic, cardiovascular and dermatological diseases. He has more than 14 years of experience in the drug discovery and development industry. Some of his areas of interest include drug repurposing, microbiome, target validation strategies and integrative informatics approaches for disease biology understanding.
