Deaconess Associations Foundation Launches "FullLife" Website to Support Older Adults
To help seniors, caregivers, and those who support them, Deaconess Associations Foundation has launched the FullLife website with information and access to services, products and agencies.
- (1888PressRelease) September 18, 2010 - Cincinnati, Ohio - While the elderly population of the U.S. has seen unprecedented growth, the traditional resources that keep seniors connected to their families and communities such as reliable transportation and support services are less available.
Recognizing that need - which will only increase in the future - Deaconess Associations Foundation has launched the FullLife website at www.LiveFull.org. The site provides information and access to services, products and agencies for seniors, caregivers and those who support them. FullLife's goal is to help seniors thrive and remain independent as long as their quality of life permits.
FullLife is an outgrowth of the Foundation's efforts to offer solutions to the challenges of aging. The Foundation has identified aging as the critical issue facing the country in the years ahead and is developing strategies and initiatives to meet senior-related needs.
At LiveFull.org, visitors can have access to areas such as:
- Senior Resources - providing an archive of professionally written healthcare articles, as well as a directory of attorneys specializing in Elderlaw;
- Caregiver Support - with information on caregiver issues as well as assessment tools and support groups;
- Transportation - details with links to ITNGreater Cincinnati, a resource that allows seniors to maintain independence without owning a vehicle.
The site also offers links to supporting organizations, an online store with products for seniors, news, events, and a blog. Visitors can register and share their comments, suggestions, and ideas in several locations throughout the site.
"FullLife is designed to be a comprehensive source for both the caregiver and the vital, independent senior," said Patrick Ward, executive director of the Foundation. "The site pulls together the many resources that are in the community with a goal of enabling aging adults to live richer, more fulfilled lives."
To help promote the goal of innovative solutions to the issues of aging, the Foundation has announced a $25,000 award to be given to a forward thinking organization. Details and an online application are available at www.LiveFull.org.
