DCW wins Sterlite Copper Corporate Trophy 2012

(1888PressRelease) May 10, 2012 - Tuticorin: Dharangadhara Chemical Works (DCW) defeated VOC Port Trust by 6 wickets to win the inaugural edition of Sterlite Copper Corporate Trophy 2012.

In the final match held on Sunday under floodlights at SAV ground, VOC Port Trust scored 71 runs losing all wickets. Batting second, DCW achieved the target with ease in 17 overs losing just 4 wickets. Mr.Raj of DCW was adjudged as Man of the Match for his three wickets and 18 (not out) runs. He also bagged the Player of the Tournament Award.

DCW team received the Championship trophy and Rs 30,000 cash award from Col.S.Krishnan, General Manager -Administration & Security, Sterlite Copper. VOC Port Trust received the runners up trophy and Rs 20000 cash award.

The tournament was organised by Sterlite Copper in association with Thoothukudi District Cricket Association from 11th April to 22nd April 2012. The event was held on league-cum-knock out format with the matches consisting of 20 overs a team. Semi-finals and final were played under flood lights.

Mr.Prem of Thoothukudi District Cricket Association and Mr.Ujjwal Singh of Sterlite Copper bagged the Best Batsman and Best Bowler awards respectively. Mr.G.Srinivasan, Senior Vice President (Administration), DCW Limited, Mr.V.R.Sivakumaran, Secretary, Thoothukudi District Cricket Association were also present during the prize distribution ceremony.
