Singapore-based DBTA International Design's Oldest International Brand Hotel in Pune, Le Meridien Pune to convert it to Sheraton Pune.
(1888PressRelease) January 30, 2015 - Singapore - DBTA International, Singapore based international design firm made a head-turning performance in the recently concluded Artists in Concrete Awards 2014-2015 held last January 20-21, 2015 in Mumbai when it bagged the major award for Hotel Interior Design. The project entry, Sheraton Pune which is a brand conversion from Le Meridien Pune impressed the international juries coming from different parts of the world. This is the second consecutive year that the international design firm won the major award for hospitality interior design, last year they also won for the Amanora Club entry.
More than 200 designers, architects, landscape specialist, and other industry professionals gathered to celebrate the winners during a ceremony and reception held at Hotel Sea Princess in Mumbai. Le Meridien Pune, dubbed as the very first (and now the oldest) international hotel brand in Pune with size of 17, 545 sqm, was originally built to evoke a Royal Indian Palace.
Located strategically with access to residential, commercial and entertainment hubs, the brand conversion will include 177 elegantly designed rooms, main lobby, banquet hall, pre-function, All Day Dining, gym, spa, courtyard, club lounge, bar and business centre. "The hospitality market in any part of the world has been evolving, and to stay in the game we have to be at par brand standard and within market trend. The whole team is excited to experience the Sheraton brand," said Jaswinder Narang, General Manager of Le Meridien Pune.
Executing such vision is internationally renowned designer, David Tokiwa. "There are two challenges that we faced in designing this property, first is to bring it up to brand standard and second the property is operational and would have to remain operational during the whole process with minimal to zero hacking noise. But with an existing property with such nostalgic architecture, we can only think of design (more than the challenges) that would bring the balance between old-world grandeur, functionality and contemporary sophistication", added Mr. Tokiwa.
"In fact, its All Day Dining called Feast has been earning excellent reviews since it's opening last December 2014." continued Mr. Tokiwa.
"The combination of functionality and design will be the runaway success formula of Sheraton Pune." Given this level of success, this property is set to transform to A NEW WORLD GRANDEUR.
