  • (1888PressRelease) August 30, 2010 - Munich, Germany - DAVID Systems, a leading provider of global broadcast solutions, will present its solutions at IBC 2010, in hall 7, at booth 7.G34, and in Microsoft's booth in the Topaz Lounge. The new tri-media production system and the integration of 3rd party editing tools is one of DAVID Systems' demo highlights. This new solution addresses the needs of broadcasters and media houses to reduce complexity and to enable seamless workflows across multiple formats, tools and platforms for tri-media production and multi-channel distribution.

It combines platform-independent thin clients with intelligent background processes using a new service-oriented architecture (SOA). The proven concept distinguishes between thin clients, services and workers for maximum flexibility, integration and scalability, and leverages industry-standard technology from Microsoft. Because of this new architecture, the system can be used to expand existing installations, including those based on DigaSystem, and become the new foundation over time, providing broadcasters and media houses with more flexibility in addressing their evolving workflow requirements. The result is a dynamic system with more powerful production capabilities that can help content providers monetize their media assets across an ever-increasing number of distribution channels.

At IBC, DAVID Systems is showing a journalist-oriented production workflow based on this new cross-platform media management system, with project exchange between Apple Final Cut Pro for HiRes editing and a new browser-based, sub-clip editor for LoRes editing. A web-based interface allows users to browse the database on both Windows and Mac clients and enables users to exchange projects between these two platforms. Journalists can first prepare their basic story outline in proxy (LoRes) format using the sub-clip editor, save the project in the DAVID Systems database, and then enable Final Cut Pro stations access to this project for further processing. This workflow frees up journalists' creativity by reducing complexity in rough news editing and provides a seamless exchange to the next workflow step of HiRes editing with Final Cut Pro.

"While our DigaSystem is an established and well regarded solution for content management in Radio and bi-media production today, this next-generation solution expands these capabilities to address broadcasters' growing needs for tri-media production. Easy integration with existing installations, as well as the use of 3rd party tools and services based on industry standard technologies, were key in the development to provide this future-proof cross-platform architecture.", says Vincent Benveniste, CEO, DAVID Systems GmbH. "Today's broadcast solutions need to focus on the editor's needs and enable tri-media production, exchange and re-purposing with improved collaboration across all platforms."
