- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) October 22, 2010 - The recently released CD "Alas! The Horse is Gone" features the graphic design of local artist David Derr. Mr. Derr provided the visual themes for the CD, CD sleeve, booklet and book for Carol Walker's latest project.
Ms. Walker, also a Morris County resident, highlights the Manx history and Celtic heritage of the Isle of Man with her performance on the haunting Appalachian Dulcimer. She purchased her first mountain dulcimer in 1999 and has excelled in this newly found venue of folk music.
To truly reflect the unique flavor of the musical selections, Mr. Derr's designs include an iconic tailless Manx cat balanced on dulcimers overlooking a stunning Manx landscape. Also, Celtic knot work reproduces the sound hole in the Bar Meadow Concert Grand dulcimer built especially for Ms. Walker.
Mr. Derr has won numerous awards including: the Adobe Digital Imaging Competition, Int'l. Digital Mural Competition and NY Art Director's Club. His works have been featured in Gallery and Studio Magazine, Photoshop User, and Digital Fine Arts Magazine as well as numerous online exhibitions and websites. He studied at The Art Students League in New York City.
