Datest Expands Its List of Services with Two Advanced Technology Systems
In an effort to increase advanced service offerings to its customers, Datest has added a SPEA 4060 Flying Probe Tester and Akila XR-3 X-ray inspection system to its repertoire.
- (1888PressRelease) September 28, 2011 - FREMONT, CA - Datest, a leading provider of advanced, efficient and quality PCBA testing and ICT solutions, recently added an Akila XR-3 X-ray inspection system from Christopher Associates and a SPEA 4060 Flying Probe Tester with the latest GOEPEL JTAG/boundary scan tools.
As Christopher Associates' approved Demonstration Site for the XR-3, Datest will make its facility available for product demos and plant tours involving the XR-3. Additionally, Datest is the first test services company in the US to fully integrate the new SPEA 4060 Flying Probe Tester with the latest GOEPEL JTAG/boundary scan tools. The combination of electrical test, optical inspection and boundary scan in a single platform provides complete one-stage testing with extremely high test coverage while lowering the cost of test.
The XR-3 provides Datest with a cost-effective means of determining the root cause of failures detected by its other test platforms (ICT, flying probe, boundary scan, etc.). "The XR-3 gives us a reliable verification system that is easy to use, fast to set up, and acts as an interactive tool for showing customers real-time evidence of board failures. Additionally, the system gives us an inexpensive means of verifying suspected failures without going through the time and trouble to write entire test programs. The 4060 double-sided flying probe tester now has the ability to test connections on nets that are not completely testable using conventional means by providing "virtual" test points on nets without full access. Test time is reduced due to fewer required probe movements since boundary scan test points can be used to reduce the number of required probe points. Nets that are covered by boundary scan can be excluded from the SPEA test run. The integration combines the best of in-circuit testing, boundary scan testing and flying probe testing. The system has been optimized in a manner that provides the benefits of a single software interface. The automatic test program generation is able to combine in-circuit and boundary scan test, avoiding any redundancy in the test coverage, thereby further optimizing test time. All of the tests that are covered by boundary scan are no longer performed during in-circuit testing.
