Datacraft has implemented a Unified Communications solution for a Hong Kong-headquartered group with operations throughout China and across Asia
specialising in environmentally responsible and renewable energy investments.
(1888PressRelease) June 26, 2009 - A company-wide email application, video conferencing system and IP telephony in key offices now provide quick and easily accessible links to the group's geographically widespread operations. The new system links the group's main offices in Hong Kong and Shenzhen with management centres in Shanghai and Xuzhou and operational facilities in coal, chemicals and photovoltaic power generation across the PRC.
"For a large organsation with employees in many different locations, unified communications is a crucial step towards developing better understanding, increased co-operation and greater productivity in the workplace,"saidFrancis Pang, General Manager, Datacraft Hong Kong.
Unified Communications combines voice, video and web communications with instant messaging, via presence detection of both people and devices, to provide organizations with the most powerful communication and collaboration capabilities available. Employees, suppliers and clients alike can connect directly with a single click and the system does the rest; selecting the most convenient communication tool instant message, phone or video conference - to ensure the fastest and most effective link, wherever the concerned party may be located.
The unified communications solutions implemented by Datacraft instantly connect both management and staff in numerous offices and production facilities seamlessly. Since its deployment, video conferencing has enabled the management team to hold regular face-to-face video meetings to ensure that things were done on schedule. The solution has also proved popular with investors and analysts who wanted to preview facilities in remote parts of China without the need for long distance travel.
A single, company-wide email system based on Microsoft Exchange and Office Communication Server has replaced the many individual legacy email systems that previously provided an administrative headache for the company!s centralized IT department. The new video conferencing service is based on the Radvision iView Suite and unified communications capabilities are provided by Cisco Unified CallManager software and Cisco Unified Presence Server.
"Installing a Unified Commnications system in a highly complex organisation requires a systematic approach and a broad knowledge of the diverse technologies involved. This is where Datacraft's extensive experience with many implementations across Asia is vital toachieve success,"said Pang.
The US$2 million contract includes a wide range of managed services such as Uptime maintenance service; a 7x24 service hotline; management service helpdesk; access to a dedicated service manager; plus regular service reports and evaluation meetings.
Insite Managed Services are provided by highly trained and experienced engineers that operate in a three- tier support structure: the first-tier handles helpdesk, technical support and maintenance; while the second-tier is made up of a Professional Service team that deals with more complex issues; and the third tier provides vendor technology support for hardware issues.
"Managed Services play an important role in helpingthe group to enjoy a faster return on investment by ensuring lower service costs and reduced maintenance fees,"added Pang.
With Datacraft's help, the group has also centralised the company's servers in Hong Kong to ensure protection of all sensitive corporate information. Routine authentication of staff access to company data, plus restrictions on printing, saving and sending documents from the desktop, provide enhanced day-to-day information security. A dedicated MPLS network and IPSEC encrypted internal connection have been put in place to secure the WAN network.
