Dan Bruder of Bold Nexus Sees Bright Future Ahead for Job Growth Sustainability
As businesses try to be market leaders through sustainable practices, green jobs are emerging as a leading component to the talent pool.
- (1888PressRelease) November 27, 2011 - Industry studies indicate a large increase in support for sustainability initiatives throughout the private and public sectors. An overwhelming 92%+ of chief executives are confident that sustainability issues are critical to future business success, according to the latest UN Global Compact-Accenture CEO Study, a survey of 1,000 business leaders conducted in 2010. Building brand, trust and a good reputation rank as the top reasons for sustainable practices and growing revenue is also important.
Dan Bruder, President of Bold Nexus, works with corporate and government clients to develop and execute talent acquisition strategies aimed at sustainability.
"Sustainability issues encompass environmental, social, government and literally impact every facet of our existence. Many companies and entities are making legitimate efforts to incorporate sustainable philosophies into their organizations at fundamental levels and it all starts with having the right talent on board to create and implement these efforts," says Bruder.
Sustainability advocates can be in virtually any discipline and contribute from many different approaches. Some of the common objectives include:
•Achieving operational efficiencies, including energy, water and waste management improvements. Many global leaders are making public commitments to reduce their carbon footprint by as much as 25% in the next 3 years.
•Improving the corporate branding, including product development, brand management and marketing communication campaigns. Have you noticed all of the commercials lately with references to "green?"
•Changing the internal corporate culture, hiring candidates committed to sustainability and retraining tenured employees to do the same
•Optimizing the supply chain, including audits to ensure that suppliers and vendors meet environmental standards.
The infiltration of green business philosophies in both the public and private sector is still evolving, with plenty of expansion ahead. Business leaders envision a future in which sustainability will be a routine part of global business efforts, according to the UN Global Compact-Accenture CEO report. About half of executives see this occurring within the next decade, and 80% are confident that the change will take place within the next 20 years. Bruder recognizes that his clients are at various levels of the sustainability evolution scale, and stays sensitive to organizational readiness for action.
"My confidence increases daily that large, global consulting firms with established sustainability services already being offered to their clients, can benefit and bring added value to the same client base by including a suite of talent acquisition services," explains Bruder.
In view of growing demand for green consulting and other jobs that help businesses go green, the Bureau of Labor Statistics began collecting data on "green jobs" in 2010 and forecast an 80% growth in the next decade.
