- (1888PressRelease) December 01, 2011 - Dailymotion will subtitle Jake Barsha's 10-episode classic horror web-series The Funny Man for viewing on Dailymotion's French web platform, it was announced by Right Hook Films, the production company which produced the web-series exclusively for Dailymotion. Iindependent filmmaker Jake Barsha's classic horror web-series debut, exclusively produced and distributed by Dailymotion.com and starring Ryan Reyes, Abby Wathen, Leslie Easterbrook and David Fine, received over 637,000 page views in its first 21 days of viewing, following its October 25, 2011 premiere, through the airing of its 10th episode on November 3, 2011.
The Funny Man is written, directed, produced and edited by Jake Barsha who made his feature film debut in January 2009 with the independently produced movie Eugene, which received its world premiere at The Palm Springs International Film Festival. Eleven other U.S. and international film festival screenings followed, garnering rave press reviews and warm accolades for Eugene from festival programmers. Eugene left audiences squirming in their seats at what The Palm Springs Film festival acclaimed as "a brilliantly disturbing psychological thriller."
According to writer/director/producer Jake Barsha, "'The Funny Man' is a psychological horror thriller web-series in the vein of Psycho and Eyes without a Face, featuring a compelling villain who videotapes his victims, demanding that they say something funny on camera prior to killing them. Inspired by such cult American horror cult masterpieces as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Saw, the murder scenes bring viewers into the deranged mindset of a psychopath, and the violence is realistically chaotic and painful."
The Funny Man cast includes: Ryan Reyes (Eugene); Abby Wathen (The Sinners, The Intruders, Skeletons in the Desert); Leslie Easterbrook (The Devil's Rejects, Halloween); David Fine (The Red Door, Stricken, Blood Ties); Nikki Tomlinson (Date Night), Shaun Gerardo (X-Men: First Class, Fast and Furious, The Kingdom), Domiziano Arcangeli (Scary or Die, Orgy of Blood, House of Flesh Mannequins); Don Danielson (Step One Breathe, Sprinkles, Malpractice); with Sam Aidun, Verton R. Banks, Melissa Biethan, Lauren Bruniges, Devon Buck, Jessica Cameron, Sierra Collins, Amanda Gamel, Casey Moeckel, Michael Musa, Chelsea Vincent and Chris Watkins.
