D'Apotic Pharmacy launches joint and bone health promotion to Malaysian public to fight against osteoporosis and arthritis.

The CEO of D'Apotic Pharmacy, Maal, announced their new Joint and Bone Health Promotion that commences 20 February and runs throughout the year.
According to the Arthritis Foundation of Malaysia, Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is the most common of arthritis. This is a severe form of joint problems. The symptoms include inflammation and soft tissue swelling of many joints at the same time. RA affects men and women and even children, but it is 4 times more common among women. There is no cure for RA but with early diagnosis and early treatment, it can be reversed. If left untreated, 80% of joint damage occurs within 2 years.
For men the more common type of arthritis is gout, another joint disease. 80% of gout patients are men. It is commonly associated with heart disease, obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure. It is caused by the formation of needle like uric acid crystals in the joints. in both RA and Gout, patients suffer painful episodes.
Osteoporosis is a bone disease that happens when the bone mineral diminishes as one advances in age. It afflicts both men and women but post-menopausal women are more susceptible to it. As the bone mineral reaches a threshold, it will result in fractures. The Malaysian Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Management of Osteoporosis 2012, states that Exercise, and Calcium and Vitamin D Supplements are the most effective forms of preventing and treating osteoporosis.
The incidence of both joint and bone diseases are increasing every year in Malaysia.
