CyraCom International Creates 400 New Jobs in Tucson
Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce announces CyraCom International Inc.'s growth and job creation.
- Tucson, AZ (1888PressRelease) May 11, 2011 - The Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce announced today that one of its members, CyraCom International, Inc. has added 100 Tucson interpreter employees since the beginning of the year, bringing its total number of Tucson interpreters hired to 400. CyraCom International, Inc. opened its Tucson center in November 2009.
CyraCom International, an industry leading language services provider, was recently recognized in the Star 200 survey by the Arizona Daily Star as the 2nd fastest growing company in Southern Arizona. The company provides paid training for bilingual speakers to become professional interpreters, one of the fastest growing careers in the country, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The company provides interpretation in over 170 languages, with Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Korean and Russian being the most frequently used.
"Organic job creation is not easy in today's economic climate," stated Lea Marquez-Petersen, CEO of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. "The Tucson Hispanic Chamber is excited to see companies create jobs within Southern Arizona."
CyraCom International's interpretation and translation services address rapidly changing demographics across various industries. With over 9% of the U.S. population speaking English less than very well, companies realize the potential to interact with customers in their native language. In addition, government agencies and healthcare institutions provide language services to interact effectively with people of limited English proficiency, as well as to be in compliance with Federal guidelines and Joint Commission Standards.
"Tucson's diversity is a fundamental aspect of our culture and economy, and it's a source of our economic strength and competitiveness," said Mayor Bob Walkup, "In November 2009, I participated at the opening of CyraCom International's Tucson call center where they announced the creation of 400 jobs. I am proud to see that this goal has been achieved despite the current economic climate. CyraCom International has shown that they know how to utilize diversity in Tucson to create jobs and profitability for their company."
CyraCom International was founded in 1995 in Tucson, where its headquarters are located. The majority of shareholders are local investors that have seen the company's inclusion in the Inc. 5000 listing of fastest growing companies in 2007, 2009 and 2010. "CyraCom is a home-grown success story, born and bred right here in Tucson," stated Joe Snell, President and CEO of Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities, Inc., commonly known as TREO. "The company continues to win awards and reach its goals for growth and job creation, and TREO has been proud to work with the management team on their expansion plans. CyraCom shows us that entrepreneurship and drive are alive and well, right here in Southern Arizona."
"We are so proud to be able to offer jobs in Tucson," said Raquel A. Moreno-Blake, VP of Human Resources for CyraCom International. "We are looking forward to continued growth and are exploring options to expand beyond our current call centers in Tucson and Las Cruces, NM."
