Cyber Host Pro Gearing Up For The Launch Of .UK Domains As Of Summer 2014
Cyber Host Pro is preparing to release .UK domains for registration to their client base in Summer 2014.
- (1888PressRelease) December 20, 2013 - Widely regarded as an exciting development for UK business, it was recently announced that the new .uk web addresses will be introduced next summer as an alternative to .co.uk and .org.uk domains. In response, Cyber Host Pro is amending their website, providing their business clients with the opportunity to register .uk domains directly on their website.
Nominet, the non-profit organisation in charge of this domain naming system, described this introduction of the shorter suffix as one of the biggest changes in years. This new domain name can be used in addition to, or instead of, an existing address. Nominet had initially scrapped plans for this new domain amid concerns that the .uk suffix would be confusing for some users, but has now opted to continue on with the scheme.
This shift is largely indicative of even greater changes within the marketplace. The number of generic top-level domains, such as.com and .org, is set to expand significantly, from 22 currently available options to more than 1,400. On a global level, these changes are nothing new. In Scotland, scot domains are also being released in 2014, while other European countries have also adopted similar practices, including France, which uses the .fr extension, and Germany, where websites are given the .de suffix. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) approved the move last month, stating that this particular type of change reflected their commitment to "promote global innovation, competition and consumer choice".
In the first quarter of 2014, Nominet will begin launching new tools designed to help registrars further enhance the security of their domain portfolios, including a domain-locking tool to protect high value domains from social-engineering attacks. Beginning in the second quarter, registrars will also be given the opportunity to adopt additional security controls when accessing Nominet's registry systems, providing domains with a strong second line of defence against hacking.
Chris Danks, Managing Director of Cyber Host Pro recently discussed the influence of this particular change within both his company and the larger online infrastructure, stating, "This is the biggest shift in UK domain name space since the internet began. It is a great opportunity for businesses to increase their online presence and important for us at Cyber Host Pro to have all the hosting tools that businesses require.
"As a leading hosting company in the UK, we are working at the forefront of this transformation, giving our customers all the tools they need to host their website and manage their online businesses as easily as possible. With over 2,000 customers, we strive to offer the best hosting service in the UK."
More details will be released by Cyber Host Pro on their website prior to the launch.
