CWS Completes Security Window Film Project for U.S. Marshalls Service

Commercial Window Shield has completed another security window film project for the U.S. Marshal Service. End Quote

Spartanburg, SC (1888PressRelease) June 22, 2019 - The company was retained by a Reading, Pa., construction company to install security window film on a building they are renovating that will house the eastern Pennsylvania district office of the U.S. Marshal Service.

Berkey Construction is renovating a 5-story building in central Reading. The U.S. Marshal Service will be housed in 2 ½ floors of the building. Window protection utilizing security window film was stipulated in the lease agreement negotiated by the General Services Administration. GSA requires fragment retention film installation on buildings housing federal governments deemed security risks.

The project involved Commercial Window Shield installing a clear 8-mil fragment retention window film on 210 windows. Construction is underway in the building. The shatter resistant window film component of the project was completed in the renovation’s first phase to best accommodate Berkey’s construction plan.

Previously, Commercial Window Shield has partnered with Berkey Construction and the U.S. Marshal Service on other security window film installation projects.

In 2016, HITT Contracting hired Commercial Window Shield to install security film on a Crystal City, Va., building that became the news U.S. Marshals Service headquarters.

For that project, the company installed 8-mil tinted fragment retention film on 45,000 sq. ft. of glass covering all 15 floors of the building, known as Crystal Gateway 3, and a partial floor of a nearby building, known as Crystal Gateway North.

Additionally, for the Marshals Service, Commercial Window Shield installed decorative film on all the glass conference rooms in the Gateway 3 building, including a special satellite signal defense film on two of the conference rooms.

GSA had signed a lease with the buildings’ owner, JBG Smith, triggering a security upgrade requirement that included window film installation. Commercial Window Shield, in discussions about the project with JBG for 18 months, persuaded the company to opt for the tinted security film option for its energy savings and eventual payback component. GSA, which oversees all government-leased buildings, acted on behalf of the Department of Justice, which directs the Marshals Service.

Additionally, Commercial Window Shield has installed security and solar control window film at the U.S. Capitol, all U.S. House of Representative and Library of Congress buildings, Veterans Administration and Energy Department headquarters, FBI headquarters, Grand Center Terminal, Seattle and O’Hare international airports, Merrill Lynch towers, George Brown Convention Center in Houston, the Willis [former Sears] Tower, and the Denver and Philadelphia mints.
