Cushman & Wakefield Staff Packs 1,400 Meals for Children at Risk of Hunger
Firm Supports Center for Food Action Program that Provides Weekend Nutrition.
- Bergen-Passaic, NJ (1888PressRelease) December 15, 2011 - Seventeen Cushman & Wakefield, Inc., staff members recently packed 1,400 weekend snack packs for children at risk of hunger in Bergen County, at the Center for Food Action's (CFA) Saddle Brook site.
The team from Cushman & Wakefield spent an evening assisting this program at CFA's Saddle Brook warehouse. "We had a great turnout," said Kimberly Brennan, the commercial real estate services firm's senior managing director in New Jersey. "I was impressed by the dedication of our group and, as always, take pride in the charitable nature of our employees."
Founded in 1976, CFA has as its mission, "preventing hunger and homelessness and improving the lives of individuals and families living in poverty." To this end, CFA provides emergency food packages, rental and utility assistance, counseling, advocacy and other essential services to those in need living in northern New Jersey.
In Bergen County alone, more than 20,000 school children are qualified for reduced price or free lunch meals-in many cases their only meal of the day. CFA has established a food program that places meals for the weekend in the backpacks of students who qualify, so that they may have a source of good nutrition over the weekend.
