Cushman & Wakefield Brokers HQ Lease for Metro T&C in Linden
83,000-Sq.-Ft., Commitment More than Doubles Trucking Firm's NY/NJ Operation.
- Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease) February 24, 2011 - Commercial real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield, Inc. has orchestrated an 83,000-square-foot, full-building lease for Metro T&C, Inc. at 720 W. Edgar Road (Route 1) in Linden. The trucking, warehousing and freight-forwarding company relocated its headquarters to the industrial property from nearby Kearny, N.J., in an expansion move that more than doubled the size of its operation.
Dan Badenhausen and Andrew Stypa of Cushman & Wakefield's Edison, N.J., office, represented both Metro T&C and property owner Cantor Companies in the long-term transaction. The assignment took just 45 days from start to finish.
Metro T&C provides pickup and delivery service throughout the New York/New Jersey region. According to Badenhausen, the rapidly growing firm found an ideal solution to accommodate its needs at 720 W. Edgar Road.
"Metro T&C came to its new headquarters from a 34,000-square-foot space," he noted. "The building in Linden offers plenty of room for additional business expansion. In addition to excellent loading with 18 doors, it also has 15,000 square feet of office space already built out, which enabled a fast move in."
Badenhausen added that port proximity and highway access were critical to Metro T&C's requirements. "This building offers both," he noted.
"The location and economics worked out well, and Cantor Companies is a responsive, flexible landlord," said Stypa.
"Dan and Andrew have been working with Metro for years; they stayed in front of us long before we needed to relocate," said John Segledi, owner of Metro T&C. "As our company grew and our building requirements changed, Dan was front and center. We had established a relationship with him and trusted Dan enough to find Metro a new home. Both Dan and Mike Cantor put Metro's needs first in order for us to continue to expand."
