Curious "Blast Friday" attendees visit Scientology Information Center
New Scientology Information Center answers questions on "What is Scientology?" and Church of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.
- Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) May 01, 2016 - On Friday, 29 April, the Scientology Information Center held an Open House for local residents and visitors attending the monthly "Blast Friday" concert in downtown Clearwater from 5:30 to 10pm.
"Blast Friday", a family-friendly event is held in the downtown Cleveland Street District every fourth Friday from 5:30pm to 10pm in the months of December through May. It is hosted by the City of Clearwater and includes local food and craft vendors, as well as a free concert. Bands featured this month included Greg Billings, The Black Honkeys and Betty Fox.
The Scientology Information Center, located at 500 Cleveland Street, had its doors wide-open for all locals and visitors coming for "Blast Friday" concert. Those attending the concert took the opportunity to step inside the Center before and after the event to get information.
"The Florida State University did a study on the economic impact of the Church of Scientology and concluded that it summed up to an annual total of $917 million dollars within Clearwater alone," stated Amber Skjelset, the Scientology Information Center Manager, "We opened the Center for all those curious about the Church and its founder L. Ron Hubbard."
The Center, housed in meticulously-restored historic Bank of Clearwater lobby, holds four interactive audio-visual displays containing over 300 videos on a myriad of topics. These include basic Scientology beliefs and practices, new Churches expanding all over the world and personal interviews by those who have worked with L. Ron Hubbard throughout his life.
"I have lived in Clearwater for a long time. I'm glad that I stepped inside the Center and got factual information on the Church and Scientology," stated Brad, a local resident, "The space is beautiful and I visit the Center quite often now for its events and receptions."
