  • (1888PressRelease) December 11, 2013 - The apex body for private Real Estate developers in India, CREDAI, is organizing their national conference in New Delhi. The 'CREDAI Conclave', that would take place on December 13-14, 2013, will host the theme "Housing the Game Changer - Leading to Double-Digit GDP Growth". CREDAI has been influential in organizing and communicating efforts to persuade the Government to take up policy reforms and changes in the Real Estate Sector.

Under the stewardship of Mr. C. Shekar Reddy, National President, CREDAI has been putting together an organized effort to advice the Government on the right policies for the Housing Sector. Being at the forefront of this effort, CREDAI believes that key changes and reforms in the existing policies are needed to provide the necessary thrust and momentum to the sector amidst dwindling economic growth and suspicious investors.

Among other distinguished and illustrious guests would be Dr. Girija Vyas, Minister for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation; Akhilesh Yadav, Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh; Bhupindir Hooda, Chief Minister, Haryana; Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab; Sri Rajnath Singh, President, BJP; DrMontek Singh Ahluvaila, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission; the top guns of Banking Sector such as Arundhati Bhattachraya, Chairperson, SBI; Naina Lal Kidwai, Head, Indian operations of HSBC; Uday Kotak, Executive Vice Chairman & MD, Kotak Mahindra; and Mr. Ramesh Menon, Director, Certes Realty Ltd. Various speakers in the Conclave would cover sessions on subjects including "Road to Recovery", "Urbanization: Dream of Young India", "BUILDING A NATION - Contribution of Real Estate in National Economic Growth", "The Game Changer", and provide necessary thrust for policy change and reforms.

One of the important topics of discussion would be the Delhi Master Plan 2021. The Government's vision of Delhi for the next decade had come into question, especially in light of the severely outdated Real Estate laws that existed. The Government has moved to give some sense of relief to developers and investors alike, by introducing a slew of reforms. However, the jury is still out on whether the reforms are adequate or not. One thing, however, that experts are in agreement with is that Delhi is still a very important Real Estate market and it is only going uphill form here.

Land expert in Delhi NCR, Mr. Ramesh Menon says "MPD 2021 is unveiling itself as the largest real estate opportunity in India, with a development potential of over 20 years. Delhi is a demand led story, with an expected increase of over a crore in population over the next 10 years. The market in Delhi is unique in itself, as there is demand across all price points - from Rs 10 lakhs to Rs 100 crores." Mr. Menon's firm, Certes Realty Ltd. is a Land Advisory firm that specializes in the Delhi Master Plan. He is scheduled to speak at the Conclave on the same subject.

Another subject on the agenda would be CREDAI's appeal to the Government to step in with reforms regarding the lending norms. Besides the rigidities of regulatory and administrative systems, the Housing and Real Estates Sector suffers from unnecessary hurdles to get access to necessary funds from banking and financial institutions, which results in reservation among investors and general slowing down of the sector. The issue of inordinate delays is also something that CREDAI has been actively pursuing with the authorities as it significantly increases the costs of house-construction and slows up the construction activity with substantial economic losses.

Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Hon'ble Minster for IT and Communications, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh released the Brochure of the Conclave to officially declare the CREDAI CONCLAVE, 2013 at New Delhi on December 13 -14, 2013. Speaking on the occasion he said, "We compliment CREDAI for the great work and initiatives undertaken and the advice given to the government to bring in reforms and changes in the policies to benefit the industry and fuel the growth of the country."

C Shekar Reddy has already addressed the media in anticipation of the upcoming Conclave in New Delhi. More than 1000 developers across India are expected to attend the conclave in an effort to connect with the authorities and put forward their opinions and expectations.
