Coffee table book focuses on the most elite abodes in Manhattan.

The Lefrak family may have made its name and fortune by building middle-class housing in Queens, but such residences don't merit the coffee-table book treatment. So when Denise LeFrak Calicchio-granddaughter of the founder of the family's firm and sister of the current chief executive-publishes her books, she focuses on the most elite abodes in Manhattan. Her latest work, Rooftop Gardens: The Terraces, Conservatories and Balconies of New York, to be released April 19, is catnip for people who love plants, trees and flowers set against skyline views.
Images of noted real estate figures' homes and those of other famous people, some of whom Ms. LeFrak Calicchio met when she was a broker for Sotheby's, are included. Neither Ms. LeFrak Calicchio nor co-author Roberta Model Amon would divulge who most of the owners of the perfectly manicured spaces are, but they revealed that the home of perfume and makeup magnate Evelyn Lauder is featured. Fashion designer Lisa Perry's home and Oona Chaplin's former abode also made the cut. Incidentally, neither author has a garden or terrace of her own in the city. "I have penthouse envy," said Ms. LeFrak Calicchio.
