CPMG Sponsors Local Youth Athletics Team
CPMG takes the health and well being of children very seriously, and so they are sponsoring a local youth athletics team in order to draw attention to the importance of staying active, fit and healthy.
- (1888PressRelease) October 26, 2010 - San Diego, CA - Children's Physicians Medical Group (http://www.cpmgsandiego.com) (CPMG) has recently announced their sponsorship of FC Soccer's RB Recreational Youth Soccer League here in San Diego. The sponsorship comes as part of an effort to highlight the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle among kids. So far, CPMG has agreed to sponsor the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 recreation leagues of RB soccer.
According to CPMG CEO Susan Bantz, "CPMG's commitment to children's health goes beyond the realm of physician visits and medical are improvements. It supports developing active, balanced, whole-health lifestyles, so sponsoring a youth soccer league in our own community presented a welcome opportunity."
San Diego's youth soccer league has allowed more than 1,500 boys and girls from Chula Vista to San Marcos to lead physically active lives. To get an idea of how successful CPMG's efforts have been locally, one only has to visit the soccer field on designated weekend to see upwards of 500 children's jerseys carrying the CPMG logo during games.
CPMG has over 50 offices in and around the San Diego and southern Riverside areas, connecting approximately 76,000 member children with over 300 pediatricians and pediatric specialists. CPMG maintains a close affiliation with Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego granting its enrollees access to all of the hospitals facilities and services.
This isn't the first time that CPMG has encouraged active and fit lifestyles in children and young adults. In fact, for the second year in a row CPMG is a sponsor of the Men's and Women's San Diego State University Aztec Basketball teams as well as the sponsor of the university's "Ball Kids" program.
CPMG goes to great lengths to encourage active and healthy lifestyles. Along with their efforts to sponsor local sports teams, CPMG also distributes free informational articles, videos, and links through social media networks like Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/cpmgsandiego) and YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/CPMGSanDiego). The content posted by CPMG is always free and allows parents a chance to stay up to date on important children's health-related issues. Parents, guardians, and child care professionals are encouraged to subscribe to CPMG's Facebook page and YouTube channel and to encouraging other adults to do the same. Individuals do not have to be residents of the San Diego and southern Riverside areas in order to take advantage of the physician verified information CPMG gives away to social network subscribers.
Statistics suggest that children who are involved in youth fitness activities are more likely to practice healthy lifestyle habits. Opportunities exist all over the country for kids who want to get healthy playing team sports. More information on what youth athletic opportunities exist for parents around the country can usually be found at the child's school or through a local youth center.
CPMG recommends getting children involved in sports as early as possible, but this doesn't mean that it's ever too late for someone to get started. Most high schools have athletic programs for teens that can lead to college scholarships and other opportunities. Parents and guardians should encourage older children to pursue an active and healthy lifestyle as much as they encourage younger children to do the same.
