- Lousiville, KY-IN (1888PressRelease) December 28, 2013 - Usha Kommineni, who holds an MBBS in Medicine, Surgery, and OBG in Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry, began practicing as a physician in India in August of 2002. But when her family uprooted to the US, she decided to get into coding, medical facility billing/practices, and health information technology, becoming certified as a medical coder specialist and ICD-10 implementation consultant.
Also certified in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Health Information Technology EMR Redesign Specialties, Usha manages the conversion from ICD-9 to the new, mandated ICD-10 formats project. She oversees the assembly of project teams, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of projects and required deadlines. In addition to various other tasks, Usha contributes her medical degree to helping her to break into the US healthcare industry. She is also very grateful to her father's constant inspiration and support.
"As I move along in my profession I would like to work my way up the corporate ladder to expand my skills in management, leadership, finance and budgeting, IT, healthcare, corporate social responsibility, and so forth," Usha said. "I want to learn as much as possible so I can fulfill my ultimate dream of working in a hospital as a director."
As a former general secretary with the local chapter of Kansas City in 2011 (American Academy Professional Coder), Usha is eager to inspire others to get involved in their community and take action rather than being a passive bystander. She believes in working for the people and motivating struggling individuals through the services that her organization provides to help them get back on their feet and enjoy all the amazing things that life has to offer.
