Covington Who's Who Selects Shelia Lee-Smith as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

The selection recognizes Shelia Lee-Smith's commitment to excellence in Healthcare Services.
Registered Pharmacy Technician and graduate of Southwest Mississippi Community College Shelia Lee-Smith began her career in the late 1980s as a secretary for a post-secondary private, for-profit school system completing applications, reports, and responses to government audits or preparing for accreditation surveys. While working in the postsecondary school system, she served as head of the Accreditation and Licensure Department, has traveled the school system conducting internal audits, reviews, and management oversight, and later worked for other for-profit school systems.
In 2008, Lee-Smith expanded her compliance and accreditation expertise to include the pharmacy industry. With nearly twenty-five years experience in the field, she now studies various laws, rules, regulations, and standards regarding the field of pharmacy and applies them to day-to-day operations by writing and implementing standard operating procedures, conducting staff training, monitoring continued compliance with those standards, plus numerous other responsibilities.
"It's important to ensure that our patients receive the best quality medications and service during some of life's most difficult circumstances," Lee-Smith said. "It keeps me going. It keeps me motivated. It keeps me inspired. It's what I do."
Lee-Smith also holds a paralegal degree, which she attributes to her ability to feel comfortable reading the various laws, regulations, and standards that help her determine realistic, workable methods for complying with them. She plans to become certified in healthcare compliance within the next two years, which she believes will greatly benefit her company as well as herself, lending more credibility to her sector of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry.
A mother of two, Lee-Smith has two children, a daughter Whitney Smith of Tampa, Florida, and a son Michael Smith, of Jayess, Mississippi. Her parents are
Ray and Helen Lee of Jayess, Mississippi.
