Covington Who's Who Selects Ronald E. Chandler as a Professional Member of the Executive and Professional Registry
The selection recognizes Ronald E. Chandler's commitment to excellence in Higher Education.
- (1888PressRelease) October 17, 2012 - Ronald E. Chandler, Professor Emeritus for the University of Toronto, has been selected as a Professional Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.
Chandler, a 1957 graduate of the University of Toronto, began teaching as an instrumental high school music teacher for nine years. From there he went on to teach for the faculty of music as an assistant professor at the University of Toronto in 1966. He later became a full professor and was appointed associate dean for music education, opera, and performance for fifteen years. He spent thirty-two years working for the University.
During his time with the University of Toronto, Chandler taught academic and applied music and conducted ensembles, had committee responsibilities, and oversaw numerous creative projects. He hired academic and adjunct teaching staff, did program development, and administration for all performing groups and the instrument collection.
Inspired by his music teacher, Donovan Cowan, in high school, Chandler knew he wanted a career in music. In addition to his long, successful academic career, he was granted tenure on the submission of a three-page CV, a programmed method for instructing beginning bassoonists with taped examples of melodies and exercises. In that year, he reproduced the Hartmann drawings that inspired 'Pictures at an Exhibition', prepared the music, and toured Ontario universities with the ensemble and the paintings. Chandler was named chief examiner in all areas and grade levels of winds and percussion for the cross-appointment to the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto. Chandler also adjudicated and provided clinics for music festival organizations, including the International Music Festivals, Music Maestro Please and Fiestival in the US and Canada.
Now retired, Chandler hopes to focus his energy on other projects, including becoming a member of the Bio-dome Revolution to help the provision of super-food in all climatic situations, saying "With the oncoming food shortage and earth changes, the bio-dome is the answer to land shortage and for super-nutritious food production."
He also hopes to lobby government agencies for a fast-track system to advance companies with the most promising research in nuclear energy testing and for more such testing facilities.
