Retiring from teaching in June 2014, Pauline C. Grenier was ready to take her hobby of gardening to new heights. Doing a lot of canning and preserves with the vegetables and fruits that she harvests right in her own backyard, the season ends for her each October. By November 2014, she had found herself looking for something new to learn. She decided to start an online business. She thought that this was the kind of work that she could do from anywhere, as she enjoys travelling the world.
Finding suppliers and manufacturers in her niche, Ms. Grenier has them dropship their products. She began listing her suppliers' products on her newly formed website, while being sure to maintain inventory and availability. As orders are placed, she sends the information to her suppliers who, in turn, ship the products to the customers directly.
"It was a huge learning curve for me," the former school teacher said, "and it continues to be, as there is always something new to learn, but I love it and I stand behind my products."
In addition to maintaining her website, keeping up with inventory, and staying in constant contact with her suppliers, Ms. Grenier also writes several blogs each week on her website for her customers.
Ms. Grenier has taken various courses to stay abreast of her business, including an eBay course, an affiliate marketing course, and a dropship course. She hopes to soon meet with her manufacturers in person, create cooking blogs, as well as take on other projects in the future.
Ms. Grenier has a BEd in Education from the University of Alberta and is a certified teacher in Canada. She is a member of the University of Alberta Alumni Association, Alberta Teachers Association, and National Association of Professional Women. She taught at Our Lady of Perpetual Health for 31 years before retiring.
