  • San Francisco, CA (1888PressRelease) December 13, 2014 - Paul S. Zygielbaum, Retired Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of C8 MediSensors, has been selected as an Executive of the Year Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.

Paul S. Zygielbaum began his career as an undergraduate student in 1970. Acquiring a job at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory as a technician in the Propulsion Division doing research in liquid-metal magnetohydrodynamics, an advanced technology for producing electric power aboard space vehicles, they later promoted him after earning his bachelor's degree to an engineering position in the same group, where he began performing systems analyses examining the concept of applying the same technology to electric utility power generation on Earth. By 1973, after the OPEC oil embargo, an opportunity to move to the newly formed Electric Power Research Institute occurred, and Mr. Zygielbaum began managing advanced power generation R&D for the electric utility industry. He subsequently spent 21 years with Hewlett-Packard and its electronic instrumentation spinoff, Agilent Technologies. Just before retirement in 2012, he held the position of president and CEO of C8 MediSensors, Inc., a startup that was developing a non-invasive, continuous glucose monitor used in diabetes treatment and other medical applications.

"Over the course of my career I carefully observed executive decision-making processes across four industries, aerospace, electric utility, electronic manufacturing, and medical device, and across many business functions," Mr. Zygielbaum said. "Along the way, I built functional expertise in lean manufacturing, design for manufacturability and serviceability, sales management, and executive selling and consulting."

Inspired by the many political leaders he's met who share his passion for American civil liberties, the worthiness of each person, and the fundamental importance of science and technology in improving human life, while preserving the earth's astounding beauty and balance, Mr. Zygielbaum is now enjoying serving as an advisor to several companies and as a volunteer board member of a local non-profit seeking to enhance technical education for high school and middle school students. He is also doing some volunteer legislative advocacy, primarily in the areas of preserving civil liberties and protecting the environment.

Mr. Zygielbaum has taken part in several monumental career experiences, including being selected by the US Department of Energy and State to represent the US electric utility industry in a joint scientific colloquium with the USSR in Moscow. He has also received numerous awards, including a Paper Prize for a technical paper he co-authored and a Community Builder Award for recognition of plans for local hiring by C8 MediSensors.
