Covington Who's Who Selects Mary B. Emmanuel as a Professional Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

Emmanuel, Laboratory Manager at Oakland Regional Hospital, has been selected as a Professional Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Mary B. Emmanuel's commitment to excellence in Healthcare.
Ms. Emmanuel, who holds a BS in Biological Science from Lake Superior State University, began working in laboratory science in 1993 for Quest Diagnostics in the specimen processing department and later as a medical technologist in the automated chemistry department as well as their serology department until 2007.
Now a laboratory manager at a physician-owned hospital, Ms. Emmanuel is responsible for the managerial and administrative duties of the position, as well as running the testing that is performed in the laboratory, maintenance and troubleshooting of the instrumentation, quality control for the testing and instrumentation, maintaining policies and procedures that guide the lab, the coordination of obtaining blood products for patients, as well as overseeing two employees that directly work for her.
Ms. Emmanuel's years in automated chemistry, as well numerous past mentors, have been very valuable tools in her experience and knowledge, saying, "The greatest part of this job is making a difference in peoples' lives every day. We are behind the scenes but make a huge impact in the care and treatment of our patients."
With aspirations of implementing hospital electronic medical record into her laboratory, Ms. Emmanuel would also like to eventually raise awareness to clinicians and legislators of the importance of laboratory science in the healthcare realm to become better compensated in their fields.
Ms. Emmanuel is a member of American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science and the American Association of Clinical Chemistry. She attends numerous laboratory science expos and conferences on technology, instrumentation, and patient care.
