Covington Who's Who Selects Martha Threatt as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry
Martha D. Threatt, Deputy Director of Communications, Outreach, and Legislative Affairs for Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. - Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) June 28, 2014 - Martha Threatt, who began her career in marketing in 1992, remained for 12 years before switching gears entirely. In 2004, she took on a position as a public information officer for Mecklenburg County, North Carolina for the Community Support Services Division. She has been working in a government capacity ever since.
"I discovered that not only did I have a natural ability to work in public service, but I soon realized that it was personally rewarding," Ms. Threatt said. "At that point, I guess you could say I found my niche."
After enrolling in the MBA program at Pfeiffer University, Ms. Threatt relocated to the Washington, DC metro area to work as a marketing specialist for the US Department of Transportation (USDOT) working for the Federal Motor Carrier Association on high level safety campaigns, such as distracted driver, the National Registry, and the Motorcoach Safety Action Plan.
Now the deputy director of communications, outreach, and legislative affairs for Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, a small government agency that oversees pension plans for corporations across the US, Ms. Threatt manages the Public Affairs Division of the department and assists in the oversight for the Communications and Legislative Affairs Divisions.
Inspired greatly by her maternal grandparents whom always encouraged Ms. Threatt to push the envelope and take her ideas and creativity a step further, she would like to continue her work in the federal government because she believes she can positively contribute to helping the American people either directly or indirectly.
Ms. Threatt earned a BA in Communications from Gardner Webb University in 1992, an MBA in Public Administration and Local Government from Pfeiffer University in 2010, and is a Certified Contracting Offices Representative since 2009. She is a member of the Gardner Webb Alumni Association and the Pfeiffer University Alumni Association. She earned a Secretary's Award for Motor Coach Safety Outreach and Education from the USDOT in 2012.
