- Toledo, OH (1888PressRelease) June 05, 2013 - Marie C. Pfeiffer, Special Education Coordinator with Bridges Community Academy, has been selected as a Professional Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Marie C. Pfeiffer's commitment to excellence in Education.
Marie C. Pfeiffer, who earned her BS in Education at Wright State University and her MS in Educational Leadership, is certified in special education and is also a licensed principal and supervisor with more than twelve years professional experience under her belt.
Beginning in junior high school, Ms. Pfeiffer volunteered at a children's institute on weekends. In high school, she volunteered in a multi-handicapped classroom. Once in college, she designed a dance and gymnastics class for multi-handicapped adults on weekends. Now a parent of a speech delayed child, Ms. Pfeiffer got involved in preschool classroom volunteerism before ultimately deciding to pursue a career in the field and earning her own license.
Currently a special education coordinator and teacher for grades K-7, Ms. Pfeiffer is responsible for all special education paperwork, 504 Plans, and is a part of the administrative team for the school. She's made district guidelines according to the Department of Education, for IEPs and ETRs, 504 Plans, Technology Guidelines for Special Education, and works closely with the service providers for the school.
"There is always someone who needs specialization and more individualization in their education," Ms. Pfeiffer said, "and this has inspired me to be a voice for them."
Also noting the tremendous amount of support she's had over the years from her parents and siblings to work in the special education field, Ms. Pfeiffer plans to go back to college to study Spanish, a language she was once fluent in, so she can reach out to the Hispanic community.
Throughout her career, Ms. Pfeiffer has helped one chronically disabled child's wish come true with Make-A-Wish Foundation. She's also earned numerous grants for her students, and recently applied for and received a $70,000 grant for the start-up for RTI in her school.
