The selection recognizes Lya Cole's commitment to excellence in Service Translations and Interpretations.
MBA graduate of Peoples University of the Americas Lya Cole became a certified Spanish interpreter in 1980 while working in banking, real estate, and computers.
Now specializing in the interpretation of English to Spanish, Spanish to English, and Portuguese to English in a variety of fields, Ms. Cole does translations in fields such as, but not limited to, social development, environmental issues, healthcare, informed consents, human research subjects, initiative measures and candidate statements, progress reports in special education.
"In the interpretation field, the goal is to transmit the message as diligently and verbatim as possible," Ms. Cole explained. "I am a very hardworking person who is highly committed to quality, is responsible with attention to detail, and have a proven record of meeting deadlines in crucial time-sensitive projects."
Having earned her MBA in International Finances and her BS in Chemistry from Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, Ms. Cole is very well-rounded. The Panama native lived in her native land, as well as Brazil, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the US. The cultural diversity in the Hispanic countries have enriched her vocabulary and helped her understand all the cultural differences.
Hoping to someday establish schools throughout the Hispanic countries for those interested in pursuing a profession in interpreting/translating, Ms. Cole is optimistic about her future. She is a current member with American Translators Association, American Chamber of Commerce in Panama, and San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.
