Covington Who's Who Selects Leslie West as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

The selection recognizes Leslie West's commitment to excellence in Higher Education.
Leslie West, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Virginia State University and a Master's Degree in Accounting from Old Dominion University, is a certified Community Bank Internal Auditor through the Independent Community Bankers Associations who began her career as an analyst with the US Government Accountability Office. Upon earning her second degree in 2002, she was hired as a full-time defense analyst.
Now an instructor at Hampton University, Mrs. West teaches Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Business Assurance Services, and Business Finance. She also advises students by discussing their required curriculums and course schedules.
Thanks to her years working in the field, Mrs. West was awarded the opportunity to work with Shore Bank, Pepsi Bottling Ventures, LLC, and the North Carolina Department of the State Treasurer. Each of these experiences granted her the ability to setup an internal audit function and implement audit procedures, which she can now incorporate into the classroom.
"I believe that a student's learning environment impacts his or her ability to comprehend the presented learning objectives," Mrs. West explained. "I have a passion to see others succeed."
Currently enrolled in the PhD in Business Administration program at Hampton University, Mrs. West hopes to pursue a full-time career in academia. She is an active member of the Tidewater Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors and is a member of the Tidewater Real Estate Investors Group.
