Certified office administrator Laura C. Melton first began her career in document control approximately twenty years ago as a technical executive assistant to the vice-president of engineering, pilot line, and production.
Nearly two decades later, Melton is still working in her field as a documentation specialist, responsible for maintaining quality department documentation systems and associated filing, logging, and processing of documents and quality records. She works closely with all functions within the company to provide document control and related services, generate documents, and record and communicate the status at any given time, plus a host of
other duties as assigned.
"I have many years of experience in a wide variety of companies," Melton explained. "It's a tough job that no one seems to want, but I seem to gravitate towards. To me, change control is not tedious and mundane as most people think; I view it as the heartbeat of the company."
With plans to remain within the QS realm of document control in the biotech industry, Melton hopes to streamline her processes to remove redundant and unnecessary activities and to ensure that her organization remains in compliance with various local, state, national, and worldwide regulatory agencies.
Melton is the recipient of numerous internal office awards and rewards throughout her career for going above and beyond the call of duty for saving her organization money, providing excellent turnaround times, and for her attention to detail.
