Covington Who's Who Selects Kimanya Ards as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

- Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN-WI (1888PressRelease) December 22, 2012 - Kimanya Ards, Professor at University of Phoenix, Amberton University, Tiffin University, Argosy University, and Strayer University, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Kimanya Ards's commitment to excellence in Higher Education.
Ards, who holds a BA in Political Science from Prairie View A&M University, an MS in Human Relations and Business from Amberton University, and a DM in Management and Organizational Leadership, began working in education as an educational specialist with Texas Health Resources in 1998. During that time, she engaged in database marketing and maintained the Diabetes Education Program.
Now a professor at five different universities, Ards instructs various courses with a focus on the educational advancement of her students. She utilizes her industry knowledge and experience to teach classes like Supervision and Leadership, Organizational Theory and Behavior, Skills for Learning in and Information Age, and Introduction to Marketing.
With experience as a research associate during her time with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Ards earned a great amount of expertise. It was during this time that she worked in ethnographic community assessments, including focus groups, semi-structured qualitative interviews, and observations for data analysis. She also collaborated with coworkers to develop both qualitative and quantitative research instruments for data management and analysis.
"My grandmother, Joan Petty, was a major inspiration in my life," Ards explained. "She pushed me towards my educational goals and was a huge support in professional goals I set for myself."
Ards plans to continue working in the educational sector and hopes to eventually work in administration. She has served on three dissertation committees, and was recently invited to serve as a dissertation chair. She is also a current member with National Association of Professional Women.
