Jacobs, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Colgate University in 1964 and a Master's Degree in Education from Gannon College, has over 40 years of experience in finance, having first began his career at Manufacturers Hanover Trust. After joining the bank, he did statement spreading before progressing to credit investigations. From there he learned to analyze credits, became a credit supervisor, and was later brought in to be a part of Corporate Planning.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Jacobs spent two years working overseas in England, served as in the international division for many years, worked in public finance, and held the title of senior vice-president at HSBC Bank and general manager for Depfa Bank.
"My last responsibilities included building a loan book from nothing to over $30 billon, and we purchased over $10 billion in taxable student loan bonds and state pension bonds," Mr. Jacobs said in relation to one of his greatest accomplishments in the field that he is quite proud to have been a part of.
Retiring in 2008 at the age of 65, Mr. Jacobs began teaching for the continued education program at NYU in 2001. Some of the courses he's taught include Credit Analysis, Commercial Banking, Managing a Commercial Loan Portfolio, and Negotiating Loan Agreements. His professional experience has given him a tremendous amount of knowledge and he has been passing on his expertise to students ever since.
A member of American Mensa for over 20 years, Mr. Jacobs has also written two books. 'Handbook of Corporate Lending', which was co-authored by James Sagner in 2001, is available on Amazon.com. He also authored 'Case Studies in Bank Lending' in 2013.
