  • Honolulu, HI (1888PressRelease) June 26, 2015 - Gordon Kaokuokalant Doo, Case Manager for Paxen Huli Ke Alo, LLC, has been selected as an Honoroed Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.

While working as a US Army National Recruiter in Hawaii, Gordon Kaokuokalant Doo worked alongside a lot of school staff, in particular counselors, principals, and teachers, at three different high schools until he retired from the National Guard in 1998.

Approached by a former school personnel, who became a director for a youth program at Kauai Community College, in 2001, about the possibility of teaching a Career Direction course in her program, Mr. Doo gladly accepted, and by 2003 he was asked to start up a program that was home based in Florida but was currently being offered on Kauai, called About Face. Again, he accepted the challenge.

"I teach life skills and work readiness classes for economically and educationally hardship youth from ages 16-21. Thanks to my former years with the National Guard as a recruiter, I learned firsthand what some of our youth were going through in seeking a future after highs school. Living on an island didn't give them many choices," Mr. Doo explained.

Mr. Doo does case management as well as career director and guidance counseling. He works with all youth services agencies that can assist in helping the youth in whatever means they can, and also deals with medical, financial, housing, education, and other areas as needed.

Planning to retire in June 2016, Mr. Doo is pleased to have been able to affect so many young lives, whether it be obtaining their high school diploma, getting a job, or overcoming legal issues. His most rewarding accomplishment was being a part of a three-person team that brought a youth program to Kauai, Hawaii, starting a class of just five in 2004, and having programs on all the major islands (Oahu, Maui, Hawaii, and Molokai) servicing youth in the most needed high schools and middle schools.

Mr. Doo holds an associate's degree from the University of Hawaii at Kauai Community College, is a member of Society of Hawaiian Men, Royal Order Of Kamehameha, and served in the US Army National Guard, retiring as a sergeant E-7 after 25 years of service.
