Gary H. Mattson began working in financial services in 1976 in the US Air Force. Receiving an honorable discharge in 1982, he then managed corporate marketing and financial planning until October 1989, at which time he decided to turn his attention to personal planning. Three years later, he was the number one agent at IOF Foresters, which did business in the US, Canada, and England. Nine years later, he went to work for Mass Mutual and Allstate, where he managed 19 financial services offices and was number one in Michigan and number three in the region in 2002 and number five in 2003.
Now the managing member of MFS LLC since 2000, Mr. Mattson oversees client finances, specializing in wealth management. As a Registered Principal and Investment Advisory Representative who holds licenses in Life and Health Products and is Registered Series 65, Mr. Mattson is dedicated to helping accomplish his clients' financial goals with the highest fiduciary responsibility.
"We knew that the average investor did not have access to multiple investments that would coordinate with their estate and tax plan, so we started MFS to afford that opportunity to all investors, not just the wealthiest investors," Mr. Mattson said about the formation of his firm.
Mr. Mattson served on President Bush's National Advisory Board and on the National Advisory board for the president's tax reform plan in 2000 and 2001. He has been featured in USA Today, Newsweek, Parade, the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and Fox News to name a few, was named Small Businessman of the Year by the Business Advisory Council, and received an award at a state dinner held in his honor in Washington, DC in 2003 and 2004. He is also a frequent speaker for financial professional organizations.
On the local level, Mr. Mattson has served as a trustee, moderator, and now as president of the Diaconate board of his local church. He has also served as president and vice-president of his local Chamber of Commerce, was the superintendent of his local 4-H, served as an advisor to national automotive magazines and small business groups, and served as a board member to several charities and business advisory boards, such as Sam's Club.
