Covington Who's Who Selects Floyd Kettering as a VIP Member of the Executive and Professional Registry
Floyd Kettering, Chief Financial Officer, Co-Founder, and Chairman of Humanitarian Service Project, has been selected as a VIP Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Floyd Kettering's commitment to excellence in Community Non-Profit.
- Chicago, IL (1888PressRelease) May 21, 2014 - Floyd Kettering, who holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MS in Industrial Administration, both from Purdue University, is also a CPA through the University of Illinois since 1968. Beginning his career in 1963 at General Motors as a systems engineer on guidance systems for the Apollo Moon Mission, he worked in systems analysis and quality control for a time before deciding to continue his education in management. Upon completion of his Master's, Mr. Kettering began working for Coopers & Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers), as a management consultant where he was advised to become a CPA. After several years in consulting, he then moved into the non-profit field, what he considers a much more fulfilling work experience.
As CFO, co-founder, and chairman of the Humanitarian Service Project, Mr. Kettering is in charge of overall strategic planning, daily oversight of accounting, and management of finances. He also serves as the treasurer of the Theosophical Society of America, secretary of the Theosophical Investment Fund, and as president of the Theosophical Book Gift Institute.
"The Humanitarian Service Project is a regional charity begun by my late wife Karole and myself in 1979 to serve those less fortunate in our local communities," Mr. Kettering said. "We were both committed to making a difference where we lived. The Project has grown from very small beginnings into an organization with a small staff and hundreds of friends and volunteers dedicated to helping others."
Committed to his current work, Mr. Kettering continues to grow the Project to serve as many as the non-profit's resources will allow. He hopes to see it reach a stability to continue on in service long after his passing. Notably, his experience in accounting has served him well in many aspects of the organization.
Mr. Kettering was elected to Tau Beta Phi Engineering Honorary Society in 1962, was named to Who's Who in Finance and Industry from 1979-80, and to Who's Who Worldwide in 1981.
