- Baltimore, MD (1888PressRelease) November 12, 2014 - Dr. Rena Boss-Victoria, Chief Executive Officer and Independent Public Health Consultant for Health International Education Partners, Inc., has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.
Beginning her career in 1974 at the Houston Veterans Administration Medical Center in Texas, Dr. Rena Boss-Victoria studied at the University of St. Thomas, earning her BSN. After completing her RN licensure and starting her practice in neurology intensive care services, she took two years before going back to school again to pursue her MSN and certification as a clinical nurse specialist. Beginning her advanced nursing practice in ambulatory care services to establish the nurse-led clinical research and protocol management services for the Rheumatology and Immunology Division at Baylor School of Medicine, it was in this role that Dr. Boss-Victoria began her career planning for public health service management expertise evolved with the support and mentoring of the VAMC Division Chiefs of Medical Staff to further her goals in advanced education. Soon after, she began on a journey toward her Doctor of Public Health at the University of Texas-School of Public Health.
"My career work experiences provided emphasis for rheumatology and immunology clinical trials research and management, community health, education, clinical services administration in infectious and non-infectious diseases, clinical health services policy, practice protocol development, and program evaluation," Dr. Boss-Victoria said about her life's work.
In 2007, the establishment of the Health International Education Policy Partners, Inc. where Dr. Boss-Victoria now serves as CEO, began its strategic mission to create and develop a world-class public health consulting service, especially for health promotion, prevention services, and human resource program development in underserved environments. Serving clients locally and globally, Dr. Boss-Victoria's work involves active engagements with faculty, professional students, multiple CBOs and NGOs, civic organizations, and government-level agency leaders.
Dr. Boss-Victoria began her teaching career as an adjunct professor for the University of Texas-School of Nursing in 1982. As her role changed to associate professor, tenured positions in nursing and community/public health areas, her experiences and responsibilities evolved into grant writing and program development for academics, community, and population health. Since 2008, Dr. Boss-Victoria has led the Center for Clinical Simulation Education as director and provided education program leadership of graduate nursing studies. Her scholarship work for research production and dissemination continues in recent formal presentations, book chapters and publications, and active professional education curriculum processes within local and global environments.
Dedicated by a passion for quality in healthcare, Dr. Boss-Victoria has been a member of numerous organizations, including the Society of Public Health Education and American Nurses' Association, and is a fellow of the Center for Behavioral Health Change. She has also earned dozens of accolades throughout her career, including being named Nurse of the Year, a New Achiever Award for education innovations in nursing education, and a Pace-Setter Award for advance nursing practice in community health.
Hoping to join in partnership with organizations and individuals where she can bring unique innovations to meet the power of science in service for transformational education in health professions, Dr. Boss-Victoria will continue to work in independent public health and advanced nursing consulting as a practice change agent for quality in leadership.
