Covington Who's Who Selects Dr. Dan Andreae as the Professional of the Year Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

- (1888PressRelease) February 02, 2013 - Dr. Dan Andreae, Professor at the University of Guelph Humber and Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo, has been selected as the Professional of the Year Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.
For the past seventeen years, Dr. Dan Andreae has taught over forty-five different subjects in higher education. Currently teaching psychology at the University of Guelph Humber and optimal health/mind-body medicine and community organization at the University of Waterloo, Andreae began his career at a health agency in 1984 before becoming the first executive director of the Alzheimer Society of Toronto.
"Real learning happens when the head meets the heart and when learning can be applied to life's journey," Andreae said. "My abiding passion for teaching, lifelong learning, and motivating students and others to appreciate that we are can continue to grow and expand our horizons at any age all attests to my success in education."
Andreae's desire to improve the quality of life in health and psychological areas keeps him very active in the field and outside the classroom. As current chair of the Patrons Council of the Alzheimer Society, their goal is to raise awareness and funds for care and research. He's also a member of Harvard Medical School Postgraduate Association for Continuing Education and Ontario Association of Social Workers where he's been the longest serving president in the organization's history, and is a Founding Fellow of the McLean Hospital Coaching Institute affiliated with Harvard.
With hopes of expanding his realm of knowledge, Andreae has studied at the Benson/Henry Mind Body Institute affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital. He conducts educational workshops and seminars, which focus on Optimal Health and Wellbeing and feature the brain and vision as well as obesity and related metabolic disorders, chronic pain, stress, and sleep.
Andreae holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology form York University, a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Toronto. He's the recipient of numerous awards, including a Honorary Doctor of Law Award for Healthcare and a Faith and Culture Gold Medal, both from Assumption University, The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal from the Canadian Government, an Ontario Medal of Citizenship for exemplary service to the Province presented by the Lieutenant Governor, a June Callwood Volunteer Award for inspirational leadership given by the Premier of Ontario, a Champion of Change Award for outstanding contribution to the Alzheimer cause presented by Princess Yasmin Khan, daughter of Rita Hayworth who passed away of Alzheimer's and Chair of the International Alzheimer Association, several Top Awards in social work from the National and Provincial organizations, and numerous teaching awards, including a Distinguished Teaching Award from the University of Waterloo. He was also twice selected as Faculty of the Year at the University of Guelph Humber, in the Psychology and Family and Community Services faculties and was selected as one of the most exceptional graduates of the century from Wilfrid Laurier University from among approximately 80,000 alumni.
