Covington Who's Who Selects Denise Jo Emond as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry
Denise Jo Emond, Certified Surgical Technologist for IU Health White Memorial Hospital, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Denise Jo Emond's commitment to excellence in Healthcare.
- Lafayette, IN (1888PressRelease) March 14, 2014 - Denise Jo Emond is a certified surgical technologist who didn't enter the workforce until 2000 when her children were older. Now employed at IU Health White Memorial Hospital in Monticello, she also works at Hippensteel Funeral Home in Lafayette as a funeral assistant and is in the process of finishing her associate's degree in mortuary science from Vincennes University.
At the hospital, Mrs. Emond assists surgeons during surgery and endoscopic procedures. She passes instruments, sets up surgical cases, holds retractors, processes and sterilizes instruments and endoscopes, schedules surgeries, applies splints in the ER, and does general patient care. At the funeral home she assists licensed funeral directors at visitations and funeral services, prints memorial cards, sets up visitation rooms, and cleans the funeral home, and funeral vehicles.
"I am devoted to maintaining continuing education requirements and constantly read related articles of both professions to remain current on issues involving medicine and funeral service," Mrs. Emond said. "I have a strong work ethic and devotion to both careers."
Mrs. Emond's love of caring for others is her calling in life. She possess a strong sense of empathy for those suffering and believes in serving all of God's people. She hopes to soon leave the medical field, however, and secure a funeral director internship after finishing her degree. Once her internship is complete she will then sit for the Indiana state license exam for funeral directors. A member of Association of Surgical Technologists, National Funeral Directors Association, Indiana Funeral Directors Association, and National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Mrs. Emond is also on the Vincennes University Honor Society and Dean's List.
