Darlene R. Saunders, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education, began writing articles later in life, about the time she became a grandmother. She has since written numerous books and began working in the publishing industry as a result of her journey as a caregiver for family members suffering Alzheimer's Disease.
Currently a live-in caregiver, Ms. Saunders schedules her writing and speaking engagements around her full-time job. She coordinates volunteer caregiving ministries in her local church and leads a caregivers' support group as well. Having retired from school teaching with forty-years of experience from elementary education through college level students with an emphasis in English grammar, she has become very well rounded throughout her professional career.
"Having to care for several family members required me to become an expert in caregiving," Ms. Saunders said. "I feel God brought me through this journey, so I am compelled to share the lessons I've learned."
With the hopes of continuing to help other homebound caregivers with her books and speaking engagements, all of Ms. Saunders books are relevant to caregiving. She has authored six books to date: Grace Comes Home; To India with Love; Pinky; Life Lessons for Caregivers; Psalms for Caregivers; and Women of the Bible. She has had the pleasure and great opportunity to lead a workshop at Northwest Ministry Conference in 2012 and also earned a World Magazine's Top Ten List in 2012 for her book, Psalms for Caregivers.
