- Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease) February 16, 2013 - Clorinda A. Mason, Educator and Literacy Coach, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Clorinda A. Mason's commitment to excellence in Education and Literacy.
Clorinda A. Mason graduated with a BA in Psychology from Seton Hall University in 1992. She thought she had it all figured out, but in 1996 she left her job in the public sector after feeling unfulfilled with her life. She went back to school and became certified to teach. She began teaching in 1998. In 2004, she again went back to school and received her Master's degree in reading along with her reading specialist certification.
Now a literacy coach responsible for aiding in the delivery of the new Common Core Curriculum Standards to all the area teachers, Mason hopes to soon become a supervisor and pay it forward to those just starting out by teaching them what she's learned in the field.
Known for taking her job very seriously, Mason is very organized and driven, saying, "No one person inspired me. My drive is intrinsic. I think people have influence over you, but only you can really make the decision to be successful and happy."
Mason is a certified teacher for grades K-8. She is also a certified literacy coach, reading specialist, and an associate education media specialist, in addition to holding a supervisory certificate. She's earned numerous awards throughout her career, including a Teacher Spot Light Award. She's also written and received Literacy Grants from Walmart and her school's PTA program.
