Covington Who's Who Selects Christopher Gerrod Benson as a Professional of the Year Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

The selection recognizes Christopher Gerrod Benson's commitment to excellence in Hospitality.
Founded in May of 2012, Christopher Gerrod Benson and his uncle, Chef Lanney Smith took the plunge and decided to give entrepreneurship a try.
Well known for catering the annual Wild Best Fest in the hometown of Lake Charles, and notably placing third this year out of twenty-two chefs, Mr. Benson serves as the catering company's executive chef, planning, directing, and supervising food preparation and cooking activities of all their events. Mr. Smith, who has cooked for numerous celebrities over the course of his career, including the Rolling Stones and Danny Glover, has also worked with the great Chef Allen Greenley, the owner of The Golden Truffle in California, starting in July 2013.
"I remember at just the young age of thirteen when I cooked my first meal," Mr. Benson said about his early discovery of his passion for cooking. "I learned that I was very creative in the kitchen by taking whatever ingredients I had in front of me and creating magic! I can now look at a recipe once, remember it, and be able to add my own little twist."
About to complete his culinary arts degree this upcoming May at Sowela Technical Community College, Mr. Benson plans to further his studies by moving to Costa Masa, California to work under Mr. Greenley at his restaurant with the hopes of opening his own restaurant some day.
