- Fort Worth-Arlington, TX (1888PressRelease) January 05, 2014 - Charles "Chuck" R. Griswold, Senior Manager Signal Systems for Dallas Area Rapid Transit, has been selected as a lifetime Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Charles R. Griswold's commitment to excellence in Transportation.
Charles "Chuck" R. Griswold, who attended the University of the Philippines, Tarrant County Junior College, and Mid America School of Railway Technology, began his career in 1973 as an assistant signalman for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for nine years. He then took a position as a test tech and rigger for J.A. Jones before ultimately landing a position with his current organization as a signal maintainer, then signal supervisor, and finally senior manager of signal systems in 2008.
In his current role, Mr. Griswold oversees the resources and activities of personnel engaged in the inspection, maintenance, modifications, and repair of signal systems. Also active in yearly FRA inspections and tri-annual Federal Transportation Authority and TXDOT audits, Mr. Griswold is also responsible for developing the signal systems budget, business plan, cost model, databases/work order system, work instructions, and the workplace safety program. In addition, he works with other management personnel in developing business reports and is heavily involved in consulting with contractors, vendors, the engineering department, and upper management on the build-outs to ensure that projects are built per DART design criteria, specifications, and standards, and to meet or exceed FRA and AREMA guidelines.
"I've developed the ability to work with people and different professional groups in both a learning and teaching capacity," Mr. Griswold said about working in his profession. "I've also learned to not only share my ideas with others but to listen to those that I work with and listen to their thoughts and ideas, helping to develop them so they can be an employee that is more involved and productive."
Giving thanks to his father for his continued support, teaching him to give 110% in whatever he does, and learning how important honesty is, Mr. Griswold hopes to someday be recognized for having developed one of the most respected signal systems in the transit industry.
Mr. Griswold is a current and active member with the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association and the American Public Transportation Association.
